    You’ll need:
      • MDF: 220mm x 125mm x 12mm

      • Dowel rod, 12mm diameter

      • Drill and drill bit, 12mm

      • Flat bit or hole saw, 32mm diameter

      • Medium glasspaper

      • PVA glue

      • Emulsion paint, matt white

      • Chalky finish paint, Rust-Oleum:

      • Dusky Pink, Clotted Cream, Duck Egg

      1. Mark the centres of the holes for the ice cream cones in the MDF, leaving a space of 25mm between each holes. Clamp the MDF firmly with a piece of scrap wood underneath. Use a flat bit or hole saw to cut the holes. Cut four pieces of 12mm dowel rod, 150mm long, for the legs.

      2. Mark the positions for the legs in each corner of the MDF, 15mm from each side. Use a 12mm drill bit for these holes, then smooth any rough edges with glasspaper. Glue the dowel legs into the top with PVA glue. Wipe off any excess glue and leave to dry. Paint the whole stand with white emulsion paint and leave to dry.

      3. Mask off the areas you wish to be cream. Paint one area with two holes and two legs Dusky Pink and the other area and other two legs Duck Egg. Remove the tape as soon as the paint begins to dry, then leave to dry thoroughly. Mask off the pink and blue areas, then paint the remaining areas Clotted Cream. Again, remove the tape as soon as it begins to dry.
