Say hello to the Homemaker Art & Craft Book Awards! Comprised of 20 categories, it’s a chance for us to honour a variety of wonderful books that have been adored by us and the creative nation over the past 12 months. For each category there will be both a Winner and Highly Commended book, voted for by our judges and you lovely readers. Winners will be announced in issue 52 (on sale 9th December) where we’ll also reveal Homemaker’s Book of the Year.
We were left in awe last week after watching Channel 4’s one-off documentary Craft: I Made This. A contemporary look at crafting and being hands on, we met three creative types who let us into their world of making and doing. Editorial Assistant Danielle Lett spoke to one of its stars to get all of the crafty goss’.
Television personality Ant Anstead went along to leather craftsman Bill Blaikie’s workshop in order to learn how to make his own satchel. No stranger to getting stuck in, Ant told us exclusively here at Homemaker where his love of crafting came from and why the handmade is so important.
We all jumped for joy in the office yesterday afternoon when we found out that Channel 4 was airing a show all about crafting. ‘Craft: I Made This’ was shown on More 4 at 9pm last night, and we were all glued to our screens as we followed three presenters getting stuck in and hands on, much to our delight.
