Start your Christmas crafting early with our festive tea cosy and baubles

Preparation is definitely the key when it comes to getting ready for Christmas, so start early by spending the remaining summer evenings knitting our festive tea cosy and baubles. Baubles

  • Start your Christmas crafting early with our festive tea cosy and baubles
    You’ll Need:

      2.75mm needles

      Bergere De France Ideal yarn, 50g balls in Pavot (24408) – Yarn A, Everest (51220) – Yarn B and Olivine (20754) – Yarn C

    HEART BAUBLE:

      Using 2.75mm needles and Yarn A, cast on 8 sts.

      Row 1: [Kfb] into every stitch. (16 sts).

      Row 2 and every alternate row: P

      Row 3: [K1, Kfb] 8 times. (24 sts).

      Row 5: [K2, Kfb] 8 times. (32 sts).

      Row 7: [K3, Kfb] 8 times. (40 sts).

      Row 9: [K4, Kfb] 8 times. (48 sts).

      Row 11: [K5, Kfb] 8 times. (56 sts).

      Row 13: [K6, Kfb] 8 times. (64 sts).

      Row 15: [K7, kfb] 8 times. (72 sts).

      Row 16: P to the last st, Pfb. (73 sts). For Rows 17-30 work Chart 1, continuing in st st:

      Cut Yarn B and continue in Yarn A:

      Row 31: K

      Row 32: P to the last 2 sts, P2tog. (72 sts).

      Row 33: [K7, K2tog] 8 times. (64 sts).

      Row 34 and every alternate Row: P

      Row 35: [K6, K2tog] 8 times. (56 sts).

      Row 37: [K5, K2tog] 8 times. (48 sts).

      Row 39: [K4, K2tog] 8 times. (36 sts).

      Row 41: [K3, K2tog] 8 times. (24 sts).

      Row 43: [K2, K2tog] 8 times. (16 sts).

      Row 45: [K2tog] 8 times. (8 sts).

      Cut yarn leaving a long tail and thread onto a wool needle. Thread through the remaining stitches and pull tight to gather, securing with a few stitches. Using mattress stitch, sew the seam closed, inserting the polystyrene bauble before the gap is too small. Stitch the remaining seam closed. Add a hanging loop using yarn or silver thread.

    HOLLY BAUBLE:

      Using Yarn C and 2.75mm needles, cast on 8 sts and follow instructions for heart bauble to the end of Row 16. For Rows 17-29 work Chart 2, which can be found in our online templates.

      Next, follow Rows 32-45 as given for heart bauble and follow all making up instructions.

    NORDIC BAUBLE:

      Using Yarn A and 2.75mm needles cast on 8 sts and follow instructions for heart bauble to the end of Row 16. For Rows 17-29 work Chart 3.

      Next, follow Rows 32-45 as given for heart bauble and follow all making up instructions.
