Crafters can do anything they set their mind to. So what’s stopping you from making your own rug? There’s a whole array of techniques that can be used, so you don’t necessarily need to be a knitter or crochet pro to get in on the action. Why not grab a loom and weave your own, make a rag rug from old pieces of fabric, or maybe even break boundaries and design one made completely from pompoms!
For me, a home without rugs is like a window without curtains, a garden without flowers and a bedroom without a bed. Rugs aren’t simply practical items that preserve wooden floors from high heels, or provide comfort on winter’s night. Rugs make a room. They join the different elements together, create a sophisticated ambience, change the acoustics and instantly inject designer flair. At Harlequin, rugs are seen as floor art and are just as important as wallpaper and fabrics in creating design statements and an on–trend scheme.
